Artist Talk: Jonathan Higbee. His love for photography blossomed when he moved to New York and began making images of his neighborhood. Jonathan is a 2018 Hasselblad Masters finalist, and has earned multiple awards, including the 2015 World Street Photography grand prize.


Artist Talk: Maria Lau

Artist Talk with photographer Maria Lau began using photography as a means of documentation and visually writing history. Her artwork then expanded into multi-disciplinary photographic based storytelling; referencing history, memory, and dream states, while employing both traditional and digital photo techniques. Based on her Cuban-Chinese heritage, she explores themes of culture, family, oral history and shared cultural experiences. The materials used to illustrate narratives range from multi-exposure photography, collage, installation and text.

A hands-on workshop exploring ways to incorporate photographs onto other surfaces. Participants will bring several laser (toner) photocopies to the workshop and learn how to transfer the images onto other materials, primarily wood.
