As photographers, we spend our time and energy creating images. The skill of editing a series of images is one of the most important that a photographer develops to properly showcase their talent. Eventually we are faced with building a portfolio with which to represent ourselves on our websites, at portfolio reviews, in contests, creating books, etc.
Each participant will bring around 50 images from the same body of work with the goal of editing down to a sequence of 10-20 final photos.
*Participants are recommended to bring 40 to 50 prints (4" x 6").
Our workshop facilitators will lead the sessions, creating an initial edit of everyone’s work while discussing editing strategies and techniques. We will identify how editing choices are made to fulfill the vision of the body of work as a whole.
*Maximum 8 participants
The workshop will be led by Marko Jokic, one of the founders of Back to the Lab, and guest photographer, Sean Sirota.
Sean Sirota has received scholarship awards though Magnum Photos and Cleveland Museum of Art . He has worked for highly accredited photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark, Susan Meiselas and the Richard Avedon Foundation. He is currently a teaching assistant at the Bronx Documentary Center.
